These are the defendants listed in a lawsuit filed by former Kellogg, Brown, & Root employee Jamie Leigh Jones. KBR was a Halliburton subsidiary meant to reconstruct oil fields and refineries in Iraq. Halliburton is now divested of KBR and alleges it “is improperly named” in the suit. Jones describes a horrible ordeal to ABC News. She says she was drugged, raped repeatedly, and held prisoner by coworkers. The entire article is worth the read.

ABC News saw fit to pixel out the names of Eric Iler and Charles Boartz. There used to be a time when the victim’s name was kept private and the accused names were public.  Jones’ story is teeming with credibility given it was Republican Congressman Ted Poe of Texas who moved the State Department to rescue her. Jones says she was imprisoned by colleagues after being drugged and raped by several. While incarcerated Jones got a hold of a cell phone and called her father who called Poe. Representative Poe also believes Jones’ account.

Jones has no recourse in criminal court since Paul Bremer, former head of the Coalition Provisional Authority in Iraq, insured contractors would not be subject to ANY law.

  1. Pledge Allegiance to the United States of Corporations.

It is astonishing that companies, US companies, such as Halliburton and its subsidiaries KBR remain afloat while people such as Jamie Leigh Jones drowned under there weight.

    Situations get fucked up.

  2. Indeed. The Halliburton types have infinite resources and zero guiding ethic…Jones has made some formidable enemies. At 20 years old, I venture to say she never imagined the world would line up like this.

  3. How is it that Paul Bremer had the authority to circumvent the laws of two countries (the United States and Iraq) with Article 17? Through what stretch of imagination can corporations and their membership be held harmless for their actions? Doesn’t Kellog/Brown/Root have some code of ethics, a moral compass so to speak? This case just reeks of animal farm logic. I hope all the far right “moralists” America sit up and take notice.

To my knowledge, President Clueless has said nothing about this. Isn’t he the President who supposedly brought “morality” to the White House?
