An Ohio man shows his bank who’s boss. Terry Hoskins’ home had gone into foreclosure. He had never missed a payment and owed around $160,000 on his $350,000 mortgage. The IRS had placed liens against Hoskins business, and the family home was his collateral. The bank decided to repossess. Hoskins offered to pay the remaining balance, but the bank said they could make more with a foreclosure.

Hoskins wasn’t having it. He rented a bulldozer and razed his place. When asked “why?” by a hometown TV crew, Hoskins said he wanted to send a message.

  1. But did he have a demolition permit? Betcha the authorities charge him with not having one, among other charges. How about a bulldozer license? Deep doo-doo.

It’ll be interesting to see which political party adopts the guy.

    • If the law wants Hoskins, it will have him. That said, sheriff deputies, prosecutors, judges, and juries are people, too–people who own homes, people who want to own homes, people who might take pleasure in seeing a man stick it to a bank.

It’s a bit of a sadistic and romantic notion, bulldozing a home. The old if-I-can’t-have-her, no one can. 😉 That’ll win the redneck sympathy vote in the jury pool. Then bank haters..that’s just about everybody these days. There are a lot of unemployed people in Ohio, too–plenty of time on their hands to serve on jury.

    • Hi, Tog. 😀

A printing company in Ohio is making a 1,000 shirts and 1,000 hats that show a bulldozer under the words “Take ‘Er Down.” The company plans to give Hoskins the proceeds to pay off his debt or rebuild a home.

His business property is set to be auctioned off tomorrow.

Wonder if that’ll be the end of it.

      • He could open a new company that offers to bulldoze homes in similar straits. C’mon, think positive! This is entrepreneurship in the ownership society.

        Rah! Rah! Yowsah!
