The New Yorker magazine reviews Going Rogue: an American Life and the popularity of Sarah Palin. A nutty little tidbit comes from an interview with Sarah’s father, Chuck Heath. He explains why his daughter only attended college for one semester in Hawaii:
According to him, the presence of so many Asians and Pacific Islanders made her uncomfortable: ‘They were a minority type thing and it wasn’t glamorous, so she came home’.”
In Going Rogue, Sarah gives an entirely different reason for leaving and puts a much better spin on her college exit strategy:
Hawaii was a little too perfect. Perpetual sunshine isn’t necessarily conducive to serious academics for eighteen-year-old Alaska girls.”
Sarah says the final college of the four she attended was her favorite. That’s the University of Idaho.
I guess seeing Asia from her house or whatever didn’t endear the people. Just weird.
