Musicians whose music was used to torture prisoners in Guantanamo Bay and Abu Ghraib may sue the Pentagon for unauthorized use of their music.  Nine Inch Nails and Rage Against the Machine are two of the bands considering lawsuits.  The testimony of former prisoners says U.S. officials used ear-splitting audio clips of heavy metal, rap, and country music tunes to wear down inmates inside these detention facilities.  Some of the former detainees are seeking damages.

  2. Wouldn’t they have a case only if the music had been played to a paying audience? I can play my music loud enough for my neighbours to hear, but the bands aren’t going to come after me, my neigbours will!

  3. music is used for pleasurable recreation and if often listened to based on personal choice and interest, not torture. i wonder what will be the outcome of this..

  4. Off topic, but I just wanted to wish you a Merry Christmas, writechic, and extend a “Happy Holidays” to your readers who will participate in the celebration of their choice. Thanks for entertaining and informing me this past year!
