Barack Obama delivers a preemptive strike on Republican election theft:

I request that Special Prosecutor Dannehy’s inquiry include a review of any involvement by Justice Department and White House officials in supporting the McCain-Palin campaign and the Republican National Committee (RNC’s) systematic development and dissemination of unsupported, spurious allegations of voter fraud.”  –Letter from Obama for America General Counsel Bob Bauer to U.S. Attorney General Michael Mukasey

Department of Justice investigators (FBI) leaked details of a “voter fraud” investigation to the Associated Press on the very heels of McCain saying ACORN threatens the very fabric of democracy.  ACORN produced a small number of fraudulent voter registration forms which by law they must turn in; however, they flag potential fakes.  The organization targets low to moderate income and minority voters.  McCain’s, Palin’s, and Fox News’ hyperbolic attacks on ACORN have been ginning up suspicion of the voter registration process.

  1. The DOJ under Mukasey, the Republican Party under Bush and Rove, and the McCain/Palin campaign have positioned themselves as the enemy of the people. This hurts real conservatives as much as Democrats. If Republicans aren’t legitimately voted out of office, then as a party they are denied the opportunity to remake themselves, retool their ideas, and answer to the constituency. Americans regardless of political affiliation should be up in arms at efforts to rig everything from elections to justice.

  2. Thanks for commenting. I’m liberal to the core, but I’m encouraged when I read writing from the old school conservatives. I’m happy they still exist and hope the GOP is only temporarily hijacked by neocons.

  3. I am doing everything I can – legally – to help get Obama elected. But if he’s up in the polls by double-digits and somehow loses on election day, I think I’ll have move to Mexico. I miss the America we used to have.
