Actor Matt Damon wants to know if Sarah Palin really believes dinosaurs were on the earth 4,000 years ago.  Damon finds himself rightly terrified that Palin would hold such a belief along with the power to execute a nuclear war.

It’s like a really bad Disney movie.  You know the hockey mom, ‘Oh, I’m just a hockey mom from Alaska.’ And she’s the President, and it’s like she’s facing down Vladamir Putin.”

63% of fundamentalists claim to believe every word in the Bible is literally true.

  1. Good for you Mr. Damon. Your right, it is terrifying. Not enough politicians, news reporters and talk shows are brave enough to say what they really think. No one wants to take on the soccer mom for fear of being “sexist”. We are talking about the potential future leader of our country, I hope voters start asking more and more questions. We only have 60 days.

  2. How could Matt say all those things with a straight face? I’d be laughing so hard.

Although, I think he almost started to laugh.

  3. 60 days is NOT enough time to get to know a candidate and make a comfortable intelligent informed decision on whether a candidate should lead our country as VP and possibly President. ooooooh. Scary. I’m praying everyday that God will intervene and stop the madness.

  4. It’s like a really bad Disney movie. You know the hockey mom, ‘Oh, I’m just a hockey mom from Alaska.’ And she’s the President, and it’s like she’s facing down Vladamir Putin.”

Really? Well, your like a really bad actor…

Hey, Matt, go do yourself a favor and read a script. YOU’RE AN ACTOR, NO ONE CARES WHAT YOU THINK. k?

Now, go away kid, ya botherin’ me…

    Oh yeah, Sarah to Matt…..BOO!

  5. It’s “you’re” not “your”.

Americans are the laughing stock of the planet. Ignorant, afraid, and turns out they can’t even spell.

It’s quite a lot of fun watching…..but profoundly sad at the same time.

  6. way to delete my comment. this page censors the opinions it does not like. much like the liberals. red sox suck, matt damon sucks, and obama sucks. borne is not bond and never will be. writechick is a fuckin commie

Sitemonitor: Ooo, I’m a fuckin’ commie. How old are you? 90? I don’t especially like Lynn’s comment, but she’s welcome to post as long as she’s not hurling epithets.

  7. I love all the conservative fools on here defending their Goddess. I grew up with a dad that believes dinosaurs were put here by the Devil to trick us into thinking evolution doesn’t exist, so I know first hand how 30% of conservative republican jackass’s (The Base) think. And I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that Christ…er, Palin thinks the same way.

Also, if you’re bagging on Matt Damon by calling him a bad actor and a nobody, well his 20 million dollar a picture paydays would beg to differ. And those calling him a nobody?…who the f**k are you? Nobody of any substance other than your loser family knows you or will ever know you. Keep working on your Myspace page ‘tards and leave the politics to people who use their brains.

  8. You libs are retards. Why are you putting your trust in a kid from Boston whose claim to fame is that he is good at pretending to be a character written by someone else.

Ask yourselves if Obama believes this. He goes to church. But obviously he doesn’t believe a thing in the Bible since he thinks weakminded people cling to it.

This would make him disingenuous and by his actions a liar.

But I know, I know, he’s your messiah. The great uh-uh-uhBama.

Unless he has a teleprompter in front of him.

    Did I mention he’s a socialist?

  9. For me, I think Matt hit the nail on the head. That’s a really big issue underlying the election–a tension between an unfortunately large number of people who don’t want to move into the modern age. If you don’t believe in evolution, you don’t believe in science, and that’s a big problem for leading our country, whether as VP or President. (And yes, I know there are people who call themselves “scientists” who believe in creationism, but that’s just silly. That is, where does science end and biblical mythology begin?)

What people are failing to realize is that while Palin is young on the surface, and that suggests new and fresh to some, her beliefs about science and about how to create change in a large institution like the US government are old and obsolete. In terms of age, McCain and Palin are both the old candidates trying to keep things the same.

  10. I share the concerns, but don’t understand why they would carry extra weight coming from Matt Damon.

Besides…. Putin is not the Russian president anymore. His power is wielded behind closed doors now.

  11. Justice for all is right around the corner. The gullible public thinks they are safe while they giggle about the destruction that McCain/Palin will cause to other American citizens and the rest of the world. The gullible will be shocked, surprised and terrified when they are ripped out of their self righteous fantasy of safety by the government. I’m sorry to say but, justice for all is right around the corner.

  12. As Sarah Palin, the dinosaurs had a reptilian brain.

Palin sees enemies everywhere. Otherwise she does not exist.

The problem with the paranoiacs as her : they attack before being attacked even if there is no danger.

I am French and American elections are an American affair.

But I am also a citizen of a world where the United States are the leading world power.

There is enough unnecessary wars on this earth.

  13. Thanks to all of you for visiting and contributing. Et bienvenue et merci, pierrick! I paid attention to the Canadian, French, UK, and Russian changes of administration. I’m sure I’d be watching the American election even if I wasn’t a U.S. citizen.

  14. To scared silly and the rest of you Kool Aid drinkers…

The press has spent more time “vetting” Palin in 7 days than they have vetted Obama in the past 18 months. Most people still dont know about his connection to the corrupt Chicago political machine and the crooked developer Resko — no reformer is Obama! No investigation into his relationships with his mentors such as William Ayers, a domestic terrorist who has not apologized and shown NO remorse on what he and his wife did during the 60’s and 70’s. No mention of his connections to bona fide communists that obviously influenced his political beliefs with their lack of faith in the American system.

Barack has never really been in a political race and now that he is, he is collapsing.

Unlike the silliness expressed by Damon and his dinosaurs, Barack’s questionable background is true. No need to worry, the GOP and 527s will uncover the truth. And we will watch him continue to slide in the polls.

  15. Hey Scared Silly, you are praying to God that He will intervene?? Isn’t that what Sara Palin does? And the difference is, what exactly?

And to the Old Europe Trash on this site, we will elect our president without your guidance, thank you very much. If we are such dummies and militaristic androids, when the Russians start pounding on your door (like the Germans did) don’t call us to bail you out.

  16. The thing that bothers me most is the hypocrisy of the Republicans. Any christian knows that God comes first, not country.

Why aren’t they man enough to say that? Because it’s not a politically viable position to take.

  17. Republicans hate Obama because he has a soul that hasn’t been contracted with the devil. His dealings with Rezko have been vetted, but the media has been pretty quiet about Rezko being told that Karl Rove would get U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald fired.

The only way McCain wins this race is with the help of Diebold.

  18. Hey folks, Obama is less vetted than Palin ane he’s actually running for president.

Plus, Damon’s dumb dinosaur comment is from a FAKE quote written by a blogger to make fun of the crazy libs. I guess the real reason that Matt Damon (and the rest of you who think you don’t have enough time to “get to know the candidate”) feels like he isn’t going to know who Palin is in a few months is that he’s too lazy to find out. Really, it’s not hard.

Here’s a link to the FAKE quotes.

    http://unbearablebobness.typepad.com/my_weblog/2008/08/governor-sarah-palin-quotes.html

  19. about 2/3 of evangelicals believe in that adam rode the dinosaurs crap

any numnut could make the inference about palin…

    t-rex was a veggie-saurus

  20. Hey D.B.E.D.S, maybe you need to watch the clip again and LISTEN, it wasn’t a “comment”, it was an inquiry. I believe he said, “I would truly like to know IF she thinks dinosaurs existed 4000 years ago.”

  21. Palin forces raped & sodomized women to give birth to the unwanted babies of rapist/ sodomizers (no abortion). These poor women have no choice. And have you been to her town of Alaska? That’s a ghost town of less than 2000 people where you only see 30-50 people on Main st. And she has no idea about Global Warming ..she lives in cold cold Alaska. God Bless America and have mercy on us all.

  22. Um, Lynn, if know one cares what Matt Damon thinks, what’s your motivation for writing a post about what Matt Damon thinks? Further; I’m not sure if you’re aware, but one of your Presidents was a famous (and bad) actor. His name was Ronald Reagan. Ever hear of that guy. Probably ok with you that we enlist old Ronnie’s view on things, yes? Here’s a few other even worse actors that might spike your faded memory: Fred Thompson, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sonny Bono. Point being, your platitudes are a bit shaky at best if you want to hold to the argument that Matt Damon or any other Actor should just shut up and read a script. After all, we are all Americans. We are all entitled to voicing our opinions aren’t we? And, don’t look now, but Matt Damon just trumped you by getting his opinion broadcast on national TV (maybe, if you were an actor …)
And as for you David Powers. Here’s a list of some other “lib retards.” I wonder if you may have heard of some of these boneheads. They were responsible for some of the most retarded things ever like; fathering the American Revolution, the development and philosophy of Political thought, founding the philosophy of modern economics, Authoring the Declaration of Independence and many other “retarted” things like that. Who’s the retard now smartguy?
    Aristotle
    Niccolò Machiavelli
    Voltaire
    Benjamin Franklin
    Samuel Adams
    Adam Smith
    Patrick Henry
    Thomas Paine
    Thomas Jefferson
    James Madison
    Alexander Hamilton
    Harriet Martineau
    Ralph Waldo Emerson
    Abraham Lincoln
    Henry David Thoreau
    Carl Menger
    William Graham Sumner
    Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr.
    John Kenneth Galbraith
    Milton Friedman

  23. I often wonder why actors with great careers get involved politically. Most often than not you hear the liberal actors speaking. And most often than not, what they say is so far left that you never hear a balanced statement. It saddens me that Mr. Damon, being as intelligent and creative as he is, finds the time to be sexist rather than objective. What about the Democratic party Mr Damon? What kind of experience do they have? What is their belief system? I really had respect for you and your work. Now your work will always be shaded in the darkness of this statement for me. Alas, Top Gun is the only Cruise movie I can bear to watch …..I guess Good Will Hunting will be the same for me.

  24. Uh, Matt Damon is a citizen, too. Good citizens participate in the process. That’s America. If you don’t like it, you could always expatriate, Anna. What’s that Dick Cheney saying? Love it or get the fuck out.

  25. Quit siding w/the g.d. actors who think they have a voice for the peasants. It’s their measly opinion and that’s it. Clearly, the one sidedness (is that a word) is fueling these blogs. Then those who oppose get shot down. Can we toss both sides and start over? Nobody is happy with their choices and it’s showing….

  26. Ask yourselves if Obama believes this.

We don’t have to. He’s spoken at length about science and the future of science in the U.S.

Palin is on record as a creationist, and advocated teaching creationsim (in the “intelligent design” cloak). The obvious follow-up is what type… “young earth”, traditional, or apologist?

  27. Republicans have Kelsey Grammar and Chuck Norris. They have the right to their opinions, too.

I like Barack Obama and don’t feel like the Democratic party is “settling” on him at all. His nomination is Bush’s backlash. We have had eight years of treacherous to botched policy- making peppered with incoherent sentences from an idiot in chief.

A once Constitutional professor and grassroots taskmaster seem like an antidote to me.

  28. Obama claims to be a Christian, and yet Matt doesn’t want to know if he believes dinosaurs existed 4,000 years ago? Frankly, I find this interview very insulting. I like Matt’s movies, but he’s an actor…and not my first stop for political commentary. Every concern he has about Palin could equally be applied to Obama. We have no idea what either believes; and we never will unless the media gets over their love affair with Obama and starts asking some real questions. All the interviews I’ve seen with him have been like the SNL sketches we saw during the primary. They treat him more like a great religious leader than a politician. The Dalai Lama Obama.

  29. Obama has never campaigned on denying basic science. He has never put his faith in the camp with the so-called Christian evangelicals. Frankly, he is not a suspect for being an idiot. Palin is.

  30. Anyone in the normal IQ range can see Palin is a radical right wing fundamentalist of the most extreme variety. The problem Democrats have now is John McCain no longer seems like the Republican candidate. Palin and the “first dude” seem pathologically ambitious. It is terrifying to think she would be a breath away from the highest office in the land. The family reminds me of a better dressed version of the Texas polygamists. Do 50% of Americans really think conservatives are going to save us from the catastrophe they created? Good God.

  31. Why are you people putting down his opinion solely because he’s an actor? What exactly makes your opinion more important or more accurate? He asked a question…does she believe something or not…simple as that.

  32. You are absolutely right, Palin doesn’t have enough experience to be President, thats why she will gain experience as Vice President.

But Obama has about the same length of political experience, actually less if you count Palins city council experience, and Obama has never had any significant leadership experience. So why are the Democrats placing Obama in first chair?

Hillary had it right when she offered Obama the Vice President job.

  33. Matt,
Your an idiot. I voted for Palin to be Governor of AK, while a resident of that “very, very small town in Alaska” called Wasilla, in case you did not bother to do full research. If you want to skew the major issues of politics to Palin’s ideals on books and dinosaurs, that I feel sorry for you. The real issue is that you are an actor…stick to what you know! Palin is, yes, a new politician, but she does have the guts to be honest and ethical without reservations. I feel, after watching your little interview, that you do not have much consideration for Alaska and the responsibility that Gov. Palin has as its leader. You have put all of your liberal eggs in your marginal acting basket with your likely choice for President, Sen. Obama. Obama should be the one who scares you sir, not Palin. This guy was preached to by an anti-white pastor for nearly twenty years and then he denounced him only when it was convenient to do so in the midst of a campaign meltdown if he did not. You are going to tell me that he was not drinking that Kool-aid for nearly twenty years…give me a break. Palin has got almost as much political experience, if not more, since she has run a multi-billion dollar budget in the State of Alaska. Mr. Damon, stick to acting…you sound like a liberal idiot actor who, like Susan Sarandon, Tim Robbins and Ben Affleck is using screen fame to promote stupidity and sway the minds of real working Americans.

  34. Good Job Damon ! I am really scared that there are sooo many people in the U.S that are just brainwashed. The Demorcrats could have the best candidate on the planet – and Nascar nation would still vote against them. What a sad world we live in. If you are not concerned about the issues that Damon brought up – there is something wrong with you – really. You may be just too brainwashed by the church or the Lizards of Satan – to really think straight.

  35. Eli – telling Damon to stick to what you know?? What he is saying is common sense. So – since he is an actor – he isn’t allowed to think outside his profession?? That is very strange of you to say something like that. You must be a drone of society. Eli – just goto your job – and don’t think about who has the nuclear codes – just pretend everything will just be fine. If he worked in a butcher shop – then would what he said be more releveant??

  36. Karl Rove’s Palin slogan-”Dumb: The new smart.”

Hey, it’s worked for the the Obama campaign — why not?

Look, Damon is a reasonably decent actor, but what gives him or George Clooney or Susan Sarandon the barest shred of credidiblity to speak on political matters? What’s Damon’s college degree in? Oh, I forgot, he dropped out of Harvard 12 credits short of graduating to pursue his acting career.

    Ah, the voice of experience…

  37. Maybe it was George Clooney that was the college brain – oops, no, he studied broadcasting at Northern Kentucky University, but soon dropped out because he “was no good at it.”

Let actors be actors and leave politics to the professionals.

  38. The thinking conservatives look like their sucking on lemons when they shill for Palin.

I was thinking it’s just the opposite. Social/fiscal conservatives finally have candidates who share their views. They have to be happy about that. On the other hand, the left is coming unhinged in its shrill attacks on Gov Palin.

  39. Talkcircuit can work on the grammar after you read How to Win Friends and Influence People.

Wm. F. Buckley is turning in his grave, and you know it. McCain’s choice was completely opportunistic. The fact he picked Palin shows how little he cares for this country and how much he wants to win this the election. I would vote for the first two names in the Bluefield, West Virginia phone book over McCain/Palin.

  40. Securing his base is opportunistic? Maybe. I said back in May that Palin was the best choice for VP, but that her integrity would tend to overshadow McCain. that may have come to pass.

“How little he cares for his country”?

In what sense? She’s the best thing to happen to US politics (conservative or liberal) in decades. Both McCain and Palin have taken on their own party – and won. It will be good to see them in the White House. Obama? I guess he’ll slink back to the senate with his tail between his legs.

  41. I can understand the Republicans on here supporting their team. That is the nature of politics. But isn’t it the case that you are trying to justify the unjustifiable?

We are living in the 21st Century not the Middle Ages. Science has proved that the Earth is at least 3,500 million years old, That is an incontroverible fact, not an opinion.

So for a potential vice president of the United States to believe that the Earth is only 10,000 years old is a frightening prospect for the rest of the developed world. Instead of leading the world, America will become alienated and the target for increased ridicule.

Good Republicans need to reclaim the party from the grip of the evangelical right and stop the slide into absurdity. You owe it not only to yourself but also the rest of the world.

  42. the source for all this was Philip Munger. He was the original source and the only source. He is a political opponent in Wasilla and has had several run ins with Palin. Take that as you will.

  43. Good Republicans need to reclaim the party from the grip of the evangelical right and stop the slide into absurdity

For better or worse, the reason the Republicans have done so poorly since 1994 is that they have abandoned conservative values. The issue of Palin’s religious beliefs is a tempest in a teapot. John Kennedy was a Catholic, Richard Nixon was a Quaker, so what? There’s a perception on the left that anyone in political office who holds a religious view is by definition seeking a theocracy. Ain’t gonna happen. I would be more concerned about the theocracy that Obama is building around himself.

  44. What is more scary than a Palin presidency…. a Barack Hussein Obama presidency!!!!!!
We need to quit speculating McCain is going to die and vote with the party that is going to give us the most rights as Americans! We need less government! This allows for FREEDOM!!!!!!!!!!!

  45. Oh definitely less government, we see where that’s getting us in the financial markets. Free to lose my pension! Woo-woo! How about in Texas right now, free to be fucked over by shrunken crony-ass FEMA! Free to go without food and water! Yippee! Free to pay $4.69 for gas! Yes! Alright!

  46. I know your Regent University education might limit your understanding, but I will exact a little credulity myself and believe you’re capable of a single exercise in reason. The argument was Less Government = More Freedom. The present incarnation of conservative has no clue how to pull that off. Obviously.

Even Bill O’Reilly concedes this unstable economy is Bush’s aborted baby. FEMA was changed by Bush and is a failed agency. The destabilized Middle East which has brought us higher oil prices is Bush’s foreign policy. The present incarnation of conservative (and McCain is an extension of that) will only make things worse.

So grab yourself the last word. Berate Barack Obama. None of that changes the last 8 years.

  47. For the record, I have a BS in Political Science/International Affairs and MA in Space Systems Management, so, yeah, I’m just a toothless, hick Fundy who don’t know nuffin’ ’bout nuffin’. I actually agree with the less government = more freedom concept. Cut government programs and encourage people to help people.

Palin actually fits that bill better than McCain. She’s more a libertarian republican, while McCain is a liberal republican who has alienated much of his base. Palin brought it back, and then some. I think McCain will be more of an aisle-crosser that Bush was or than Obama would be, if he ever made to the White House. So conservatives will hold their noses and vote for McCain, because flawed as he is, he’s light years ahead of Obama’s promised socialist fever dream.

I think in the long run, history

  48. obviously like your web-site but you have to test the spelling on several of your posts.
Many of them are rife with spelling problems and I find it very troublesome to inform the truth
nevertheless I’ll certainly come again again.
