A Little Poison OK for Baby Says FDA

ht CSPAN Junkie

The Food and Drug Administration says it will allow a trace amount of the industrial chemical melamine to be present in infant formula in the U.S.

Even Fox News is up in arms…

The new “standard” reverses an October assessment that concluded melamine below 2.5 parts per million was safe with the exception of baby formula.  Suddenly, somehow, melamine at or below 1 part per million in infant formula is okay now.  What changed the agency’s mind?  Well maybe finding traces of melamine in Nestle’s Good Start Supreme Infant Formula with Iron did it.  Or it could have been the traces of cyanuric acid in Enfamil LIPIL with Iron made by Mead Johnson.

Shockingly, neither company found the chemicals using their own tests.

Melamine is the same toxin discovered in baby formula in China that sickened tens of thousands of infants.

  2. Again, the FDA shows who they really support and it is not the public. I wish we still lived in the time where people grew their own organic vegetables and blended it into baby food, after they had breastfed the precious child.

Nestle already had the reputation for poisoning/killing those indigenous infants with tainted formula and now this? If I had an infant I would have to find breastmilk asap. The world is becoming more and more unsafe for our babies.

  3. OMG. This is just unbelievable! I cannot believe that this could happen here.

  4. I just think of it as another one of Bush’s parting shots, a big “Fuck you! America!” Babies ‘n’ all…

  5. “it has no business being in food products, period”
