It is the truth. Most people in the U.S. are too stupid to pay attention. If it makes a good sound bite, people will believe it to be the rock-solid truth without question.
Sometimes I wish there was an I.Q. requirement to vote.
I think politicians should be drafted. A triple digit IQ would definitely be part of the selection process.
