Those who wear magic polyester underwear like Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT) shouldn’t throw stones. On the Senate floor, 6/25/08, Hatch likens FISA critics to people who walk around the house in a tin foil hats. He whines, no previous Congress has ever saw fit to wrangle so over spying without a warrant.
No previous Congress has ever been more collectively castrated as a governing body. No previous American citizenry has ever had greater cause for skepticism when it comes to politicians.
If defending the Constitution is too hard for you, Hatch, resign.

Late this afternoon, the Senate voted 80-15 to invoke cloture on the FISA bill. Ian Welsh at FDL writes that this “was the real vote” and applauds the 15 senators who “voted for the Bill of Rights.”
