John Bolton Escapes Citizen’s Arrest

John Robert Bolton I am arresting you for the charge of aggression, a crime of aggression as defined by the Nuremberg Principles.” -George Monbiot at speech given by Bolton

Here’s another reason to love the world: people like George Monbiot.

John Bolton, the former US ambassador to the United Nations, escaped a citizen’s arrest Wednesday after a speech in Wales. Monbiot is a columnist for the Guardian who tried to arrest Bolton. Monbiot says Bolton is a war criminal for his role in helping to initiate the US invasion of Iraq.

This is the reception neocons should be haunted with the rest of their days or until someone in a position of power decides to uphold the Rule of Law. During his interview on Democracy Now Monbiot says of the Iraq War:

This was not an ordinary political mistake which was committed in Iraq. This was the supreme international crime which lead to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people.”
