Little Jail in the Basement of Congress

ht Rip Hot Potato Mash

The latest in the Bush League Justice series and a double segment at that! With Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL), ousted U.S. Attorney David Iglesias and Georgetown Law Professor Paul Rothstein.”

On MSNBC’s The Verdict, Dan Abrams invites guests to maul over Rove’s statements on This Week with George Stephanopoulos. Schultz says executive privilege is not an option since Rove denies communication with the White House or administration about the Siegelman case.

Iglesias points out the flouting of Rule of Law by the administration by having their people ignore subpoenas rather than show up for hearings and claim executive privilege then.

Paul Rothstein believes the adminstration has been politicizing the Justice Department from top to bottom; however, he contends executive privilege is applicable.

All seem to agree that the House Judiciary’s only option in dealing with Rove may be that little jail in the basement of Congress.

  1. I have a notion that the cells had been converted to storage rooms or something. Maybe they left the manacles on the walls, though.

  2. Maybe they could borrow Cheney’s man-size safe?

    I’ll investigate.

  3. I wonder if the Capitol Police will be stewards of Rove’s incarceration with the House Sergeant at Arms providing oversight? That’s my best estimation after looking around. They could honor Bush and just set a human-size chain link kennel on the Capitol lawn with Rove cuffed and shackled to the ground. The orange jumpsuit is a must.
