Who Are the People in Your Neighborhood?

Blue Gal is hauling herself and crew to bluer pastures (no, not Kentucky).  With just weeks to go before she puts Alabama in her past, she used the New York Times Election Guide to see how red her neighbors are when it comes to campaign contributions. In my town, it wasn’t so bleak:

  • Barack Obama-30
  • Mike Huckabee-10
  • Fred Thompson-10
  • John Edwards-9
  • Ron Paul-8
  • John McCain-6
  • Hillary Clinton-3
  • Rudolph Guiliani-1
  • Duncan Hunter-1
  • Mitt Romney-1

Democrats had 42 contributors; Republicans had 37.  And people really like Obama.

  1. Thanks much for the linky love.

  3. You’re very welcome, squared.

  4. I found that earlier today and almost linked to it. That tool is neat. About half the contributors in my zip gave to Edwards. Only two people out of about 25 gave to McCain.

  5. It really is cool. I was surprised and thrilled by the number of Obama supporters. Edwards got a lot of love, too. I also see why Alabama didn’t count in Clinton’s mind.

  6. Interesting. I checked out my zip code and found most contributions were to Democrats. I haven’t added them up, but they were spread out among Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and what I guess were earlier ones for John Edwards. Many fewer for Republicans which makes me happy, but the few there were for McCain were a lot bigger – close to the max. That fits the pattern, I guess.
