Amnesty International’s ‘Torchure’ is the first in a series of four animated films highlighting China’s human rights record in the run-up to the Beijing Olympics. AI’s campaign specifically has in mind Beijing resident Ye Guozhu who was imprisoned and tortured with electroshock batons after he protested at forced evictions. Ye Guozhu’s home and family restaurant had been bulldozed to make way for Olympics construction.
