Ya know, the stories are just writing themselves today. A Republican candidate in Indiana’s 2nd distrist, Tony Zirkle decided to rub elbows with the Aryan nation as he campaigns for office. The money’s all green, right? Yeah, the occasion was Hitler’s 119th birthday. The bigoted audience played dress-up in Hitler clothes, and the candidate addressed the crowd like it was all good.
Zirkle defends his appearance, “Hey, I’ve spoken on an African-American radio station.”

Wow! I love the way they toned down the Nazi color scheme and went all pastel with the swastika. Way to dial it down, boys.
I really don’t know what scares me more: that this guy is 1) giving a talk to the Aryan nation on Hitler’s birthday, 2) as some kind of self-proclaimed “expert” on what’s wrong with the justice system and 3) thinks that pornography is at the top of that list based on his vast experience as a federal – strike that – county prosecutor.
Yes, I do know what scares me more. Hitler. There’s a picture of Hitler behind his damn head. A big one. He fell for the pastel swastika, right?

Ohhhhh. The first clip was making use of the ol’ TNT colorization, eh? Those Nazi-lovers are very clever. I think I actually prefer the pale teal swastika. So … the guy wasn’t taken in by a pastel color scheme … could it be he got Hitler confused with Oliver Hardy (of Laurel and Hardy fame)? You know. Maybe he thought that picture behind his head was Ollie’s After the Diet picture? No?
Could it be that he’s a pious, self-righteous but amoral prig? I really like his rationale about sharing the gospel with this group so they may deal with some of their issues from a more “Christian” place !!! I can’t wait to see how they present their views on violent fascism in “a more loving fashion!”

I couldn’t believe I missed that yesterday while I was wasting my time on breaking down the PA primary. According to my calculations, Wexler started questioning Mueller at about 1:36:00 into the hearing and by 1:38:00 Mueller had a definite case of cotton mouth.
Is Tony Zirkle insane? Oh wait, he’s a neo-con, of course he is. This is unbelievable that this jackass seriously believes people will accept this as business as usual. That said, there are probably plenty of good “christian” Republicans who secretly praise him for this.

Wow. That’s something you don’t see every day. Has McCain ever met this guy. Even on a rope line or anything. Has he shaken hands with him. Because if so, I think that it’s only fair he take responsibility for everything Zirkle says. I mean if that’s the game we end up playing in the GE.
The sad thing is, this doesn’t surprise me one bit.
