Christin Eubanks, the Smithsonian Channel Community Administrator at youtube, forwarded this video of public reaction to the portrait of comedian Steven Colbert adorning the bathroom entrance Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery. Colbert spent several hours in January begging and pining to Smithsonian Director Brent Glass that the picture be exhibited. Glass relented.
“We agreed to go along with the joke and hang it for a short time in between the bathrooms,” said museum spokeswoman Bethany Bentley. Museum officials stress it’s only temporary.
