Vacuuming Sucks for Fleas

For those of you still fighting fleas, scientists suggest your most lethal weapon is in your broom closet: the vacuum.

Researchers at Ohio State University found fleas died in all stages of life when whooshed through the violent suction of a vacuum cleaner.

Adult fleas died at a rate of 96%. All pupae and all larvae died in experiments.

The OSU study is detailed in a recent issue of the journal Entomologica Experimentalis et Applicata.  Researchers are testing non-toxic methods for killing insects.
