SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO–Puerto Rico has their 2008 Miss Universe candidate but not without some emotional bumps and bruising. Pageant officials are investigating why the winner became a target for cruel pranks during the course of the contest.
Ingrid Marie Rivera beat all of the other candidates in spite of someone mixing a spicy substance into her makeup and causing her face to swell and break out in hives, said a pageant official.
Rivera also had her bag stolen, which carried her clothes and credit cards.
Someone even called in a bomb threat on Thursday. That postponed the final event and Rivera being declared the winner until Friday.
