MIT Builds Case Against Architect

http://news-libraries.mit.edu/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/06/stata-small.jpgThe Massachusetts Institute of Technology is suing the architect who designed its Stata Center. The school contends serious design flaws in the building–known for uncommon angles and a counterintuitive look.

Court documents say MIT paid Gehry Partners $15 million to design the Stata Center and cost $300 million to erect. It houses labs, offices, classrooms and meeting rooms. The school alleges persistent leaks, drainage problems and mold support the assertion that the building is flawed.
Gehry’s work includes the Guggenheim Museum in Spain and the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles.
