DUI: Driving Under Idiocy

A drunk driver in Austria accidentially called police for roadside assistance Thursday evening because he was too intoxicated to change a flat tire.

An Andau police officer says the man “mixed up his emergency service numbers.” Police quickly dispatched a patrol car and promptly took away the man’s license. The man did not get his tire changed.

    Many years ago a colleague had a similar incident – the police found him very intoxicated, asleep at the wheel with the engine running and a flat tyre.
    His story to the police was that he had a companion – a lady he’d met that night who’d been driving and had gone to call for assistance; but not returned.
    We never knew whether the story was true but the judge thought it was.
