A drunk driver in Austria accidentially called police for roadside assistance Thursday evening because he was too intoxicated to change a flat tire.

An Andau police officer says the man “mixed up his emergency service numbers.” Police quickly dispatched a patrol car and promptly took away the man’s license. The man did not get his tire changed.

  1. Many years ago a colleague had a similar incident – the police found him very intoxicated, asleep at the wheel with the engine running and a flat tyre.
His story to the police was that he had a companion – a lady he’d met that night who’d been driving and had gone to call for assistance; but not returned.
We never knew whether the story was true but the judge thought it was.

  2. At least your colleague left room for credibility, unlike the man in Vienna.
